Downtown Kerala in January - The Great Escape!!

Its Monday morning andherewe are facing the Arabian Ocean at Varkala in Southern India. The brahmini kites are soaring below us as we tuck into our breakfast of omelette, coffee and croissants! Chatting to other travelerswho have come up the coast from the southern tip of Kerala. India takes a little adjustment ! You need a few days to get into a different mind set and to relax into the different lifestyle.

Our first three daysin Cochin were very interesting as its an historic place with much Dutch and Portuguese influence aswell of course the British Legacy which is all too obvious. The highlight was watching the amazing sunsets over the ocean whilst sipping an ice cold beer! A few days later we moved down to Alleppey and had a beach house right on the sand between the coconut palms which fringe this quiet section of the coast it gave us a chance to sit out, lie i a hammock and again to enjoy the early morning andend of the day whilst havinga siesta in the afternoons!
Down in Varkala now and its a strip along the clifffoilledwith cafes, restaurants, aruyvedic treatment places etc..and if you everwondered where all those 6os hippies went - well they are here! old and new!
Downto the tip at the weekend.... love to all readers!
